Delta resident Antonio "Tony" E. Garcia died Friday, July 24, 2015, at Willow Tree Care Center in Delta. He was 70.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 1, at Taylor Funeral Service chapel in Delta.
Mr. Garcia was born in Ojo Caliente, N.M., Aug. 11, 1944, to Antonio Garcia Sr. and Genova (Sisneros) Garcia. He spent his childhood in Hotchkiss and graduated from Hotchkiss High School.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Delta. He enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a Broncos fan.
Mr. Garcia is survived by his stepsons, Ben DeHerrera of Delta and Frank (Deb) DeHerrera of Grand Junction; his sisters, Polly (Emil) Torkar of Carlsbad, Calif., Elaine Garcia of Craig and Luatha Piaz of Montrose; his son-in-law, Felix Vigil of Alaska; his grandchildren, Mykal DeHerrera, Victoriah DeHerrera, Anthony DeHerrera and Andrea (Joey) Delgado; and his great-grandchildren, Dontae DeHerrera, TaeAna DeHerrera, Dominic Delgado, Donovan Delgado, Deja Delgado and Valencia Delgado.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Garcia, and a sister, Lala Vigil.

The clock is ticking. The Delta Urban Renewal Authority (DURA) has 120 days to reach agreement with the taxing entities it's asking to help fund a gateway project near the intersection of Highways 50 and 92. Half that time has elapsed, and there is no Plan B, city manager David Torgler emphasized during a meeting with taxing entities Monday.
