The Grand Junction Rockies will honor former Colorado Rockies great Todd Helton with an on-field ceremony on Friday, Aug. 7. Grand Junction will play host to the Missoula Osprey at Suplizio Field beginning at 6:30 p.m. Post-game fireworks will follow immediately after the game. Gates will open at 5 p.m. as Todd Helton will be signing autographs (fans with tickets) inside the stadium until 6:15 p.m. Just prior to the start of the game, Grand Junction Rockies officials will be saying "thank you" to Todd on the field with a special gift.
A five-time National League All-Star, Todd Helton played all of his 17 big league seasons with Colorado, amassing a .316 career batting average, 369 home runs and 1,406 runs batted in. Helton's 592 doubles is 16th all-time in major league baseball. Helton is the only player in major league baseball history to hit 35 or more doubles in at least 10 consecutive seasons (1998-2007).
Game tickets for "Todd Helton Night" can be purchased at most area City Market stores, gjrockies.com and at the Rockies front office at 1315 North Avenue. Tickets may also be purchased at the Suplizio Field gate ticket box office prior to the Aug. 7 game.
The Grand Junction Rockies are encouraging all fans to show their appreciation by attending the game and applauding the tremendous baseball career of Todd Helton.

Thanks to the efforts of state Rep. Millie Hamner, House District 61, Colorado State University plans to re-open the Rogers Mesa research site.
The facility was taken out of operation in 2011, due to budget cuts throughout the CSU system.
