Susan "Suzie" Alean Waehner of Cedaredge died July 12, 2015, at her home. She was 60.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 25, at the Cedaredge Assembly of God.
Mrs. Waehner was born in Littleton Nov. 17, 1954, to Marvin and Alice "Jean" Fischer. She spent most of her childhood in Grand Lake.
She was an exchange student to Australia in high school and graduated from Western State College in Gunnison.
She taught elementary school in Australia for four years and in Grand and Delta counties for 30 years.
She married Drake Waehner in 1982.
She was active in her church and taught vacation Bible school for 20-plus years. She enjoyed music and children.
Mrs. Waehner is survived by her husband of 33 years, Drake; two daughters, Rebecca and Sara; four grandchildren, Cabe, Talon, Juliet and Ayla, yet to be born; her father, Marvin Fischer; and a brother, Kevin Fischer.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Fischer.
Thanks to the efforts of state Rep. Millie Hamner, House District 61, Colorado State University plans to re-open the Rogers Mesa research site.
The facility was taken out of operation in 2011, due to budget cuts throughout the CSU system.
