Grand Junction resident Robert Spindler died Jan. 4, 2018, at the HopeWest Care Center in Grand Junction. He was 90.
He was born Oct. 10, 1927, to Arthur and Christena (Hansen) Spindler in Holyoke.
After graduating from Phillips County High School in 1945, he was drafted into the U.S. Army to serve in World War II. After the war he continued his education by receiving his bachelor's degree at Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kan. He received his master's of divinity from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Kan., in 1953.
On Aug. 8, 1948, he married Juanita Oyer.
Rev. Spindler pastored at several churches in Kansas, then in 1967 moved his family to Colorado. He pastored at First Baptist Church and Immanuel Baptist Church in Delta.
He is survived by two daughters, Connie (Kevin) Townsend and Kathie (Glenn) Hawk; two sisters, Lorraine Albert and Nelda Griess; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Juanita; and daughter, Karen Spindler.
Funeral services were held Jan. 9 at the First Baptist Church. Interment followed at Mesa View Cemetery in Delta.

Delta Volunteer Fire Department (DVFD) will be holding its annual fireworks show at Confluence Park on Wednesday, July 4, having received approval from Delta City Council at the council's June 5 meeting.
The DVFD has 28 volunteers and expects to have eight to 10 firefighters from Cedaredge join them this year.
