Crawford resident Richard "Rich" J. Eakin Jr. died Friday, July 17, 2015, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 51.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 1, at his daughter's residence, 1635 Black Canyon Road, Crawford.
Mr. Eakin was born in Denver May 13, 1964, to Richard and Sherlyn (Mead) Eakin. He grew up in Denver and Crawford.
He joined the U.S. Army and served for 16 years.
He traveled as a certified welder. He returned to Crawford seven years ago.
He enjoyed being outdoors, four-wheeling, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, riding his Harley and shooting his guns.
Mr. Eakin is survived by his girlfriend, Sandy Johnson of Crawford; his grandmother, Dorothy Mead of Augusta, Maine; his parents, Dick and Sheri Eakin; his daughters, Celia George and Ashley Eakin, all of Crawford; two brothers, Ryan Eakin of Crawford and Bob Eakin of Billings, Mont.; and two granddaughters, Caidence and Elexa.
