Longtime Olathe resident Penney Mautz died Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at HopeWest Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction. She was 61.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 1, at Taylor Funeral Home chapel in Delta with James Gall officiating.
Mrs. Mautz was born in Glenwood Springs Nov. 24, 1953, to Conrad "Buddy" and Lavania (Allen) Cerise. After high school graduation she attended beauty school in Grand Junction.
On Jan. 6, 1973, she married Joe Mautz. They moved to Olathe in 1994 where they ran a cattle feedlot.
Mrs. Mautz enjoyed horseback riding, traveling, gardening, picnics, shopping at thrift stores, and spending time with her family and granddaughters.
She is survived by two sons, Kirt (Deanna) Mautz of Olathe and Keith (Holly) Mautz of Orchard City; her mother, Lavania Cerise of Silt; her brother, Rory (Lucy) Cerise of Basalt; and three granddaughters, Kaylee, Macey and Eva.
She was preceded in death by her father, Buddy Cerise, and her husband, Joe Mautz.

The clock is ticking. The Delta Urban Renewal Authority (DURA) has 120 days to reach agreement with the taxing entities it's asking to help fund a gateway project near the intersection of Highways 50 and 92. Half that time has elapsed, and there is no Plan B, city manager David Torgler emphasized during a meeting with taxing entities Monday.
