Cedaredge resident Maynard N. Nelson died Friday, June 29, 2018, at Crossroads Memory Care in Delta. He was 90.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, at Chapel of the Cross in Cedaredge, with Gary Sheveland officiating. Interment will follow at Cedaredge Cemetery.
Mr. Nelson was born in Funk, Neb., March 4, 1928, to Amos and Ruth (Shaffer) Nelson. He spent his childhood in Funk, Neb., and graduated from Holdrege High School in 1946.
On June 15, 1947, he married Dorothy Sprague in Holdrege, Neb. She died Nov. 7, 1990.
He married Lila Kettler on May 20, 1995, in Cedaredge.
Mr. Nelson was a member of First Baptist Church in Cedaredge. He enjoyed buying and selling property, and was a founder of Pioneer Town in Cedaredge.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Lila Nelson of Cedaredge; a daughter, Pamela (Gary) Sheveland of Cabo San Lucas; a brother, Jerry Nelson of Denver; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Collin; two brothers, Stan and Phil Nelson; and his first wife, Dorothy Nelson.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
