Martha "Marty" Jean Morris Nolen died Feb. 22, 2015, in Delta. She was 87.
She and a twin sister were born in Grand Junction Dec. 21, 1927, to Emery Morris and Nelly McLaughlin.
She worked in accounting at several large construction firms. She was forced to retire when she lost her eyesight due to macular degeneration.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, going out to eat, and reading and listening to books in her later years.
She is survived by three children, Judy (Mark) Fairchild, John (Barb) Sanghosti and Bryanna (Lisa) Roberts; seven grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen, Katherine, and her twin, Mary.
A memorial service was held Aug. 8 at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Ouray, where she was laid to rest next to her sister Helen.
Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory is handling the arrangements.
Thanks to the efforts of state Rep. Millie Hamner, House District 61, Colorado State University plans to re-open the Rogers Mesa research site.
The facility was taken out of operation in 2011, due to budget cuts throughout the CSU system.
