Lifetime Delta County resident Lawrence E. Hiler died at his home Aug. 30, 2017. He was one day short of 79.
Graveside funeral services were held Sept. 5 at Delta City Cemetery. Pastor James Gall officiated.
Mr. Hiler was born on Aug. 31, 1938, to Arthur and Golda (Coleman) Hiler in Austin. He spent his childhood and attended school in Delta County.
On Dec. 27, 1960, he married Sherry Stevens in Montrose.
Mr. Hiler retired as custodian for the Delta School District after 24 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and playing cards. He was an avid Broncos fan.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sherry; daughters, Melinda Hiler of Clifton and Tammie Knob of Grand Junction; son, Kenneth (Pak) of Port Jefferson, N.Y.; grandchildren, Christopher Knob, Michelle Loy, Brandon Hiler and Darrion Hiler; and great-grandchildren, Logan Knob, Wyatt Knob, Shaylee Loy and Ariah Hiler.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Lawrence Lee and 11 siblings.
