From the Delta Police Department:

Aug. 21:

Blake A. Wilks, 30, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged harassment. Hilari N. Madsen, 32, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged harassment.

Aug. 23:

William B. Harlow, 22, of Williamsburg, Va., was issued a ticket for alleged vehicle turning left after being involved in a two-vehicle crash on Main Street at 6th Street. No injuries were reported or observed. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Aug. 24:

Johnathon E. Bozeman, 28, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged careless driving and failure to yield right of way from a stop sign after being involved in a bicycle vs. vehicle crash at Hillcrest Drive and Crawford Avenue (H Road). One person was injured and transported to Delta County Memorial Hospital for treatment. The bicycle was towed from the scene.

Brandon L. Sadler, 35, of Delta was arrested and jailed on a warrant with a $25,000 bond.

Brandon L. Sadler, 35, of Delta was arrested and jailed for Unlawful Possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and violation of bail bond conditions.

Aug. 25:

Justin C. Peters, 33, of Crawford was arrested and jailed on a warrant with a $250 bond and issued a ticket for alleged driving a motor vehicle while license suspended.

Craig L. Smith, 33, of Delta was arrested and jailed on a warrant with a $5,000 bond.

Craig L. Smith, 33, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged third degree criminal trespass.

Zachary W. Kohler, 33, of Montrose was arrested and jailed on a warrant with a $500 bond and was issued a ticket for alleged speeding and driving a motor vehicle while license denied.

Jeremy M. Pollock, 35, of Delta was arrested and jailed on a warrant with a $1,200 bond.

Dusty J. Rule, 24, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged failed to use turn signal, driving a motor vehicle while license suspended, DUI and DUI per se.

Aug. 26:

Anthony J. Price, 18, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged vehicle turning left after being involved in a two-vehicle crash on Main Street at 3rd Street. No injuries were reported or observed. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Citations: Twenty tickets were issued this week for various traffic violations, including nine for speeding.

Aug. 22:

A Cedaredge resident was notified that mail stolen previously from a box on NE Shady Oak Avenue was found on George Creek Road. She had already taken steps to protect herself from identity theft.

An Orchard City resident asked for a welfare check on a neighbor who had taken off on foot, headed toward town. He is in his 70s and not mentally stable.

Aug. 23:

Additional patrols were requested in the area of Highway 133 and Grand Avenue, Paonia, where speeding has picked up during school hours.

A vehicle was reported at mile marker 76 on Highway 50 shortly after 10 a.m. When deputies arrived on the scene, heavy black smoke was pouring from the Ford pickup. Delta firefighters extinguished the fire. The Colorado Department of Transportation was notified that some of the asphalt pavement had melted. The owner of the pickup, Jack Schmidt of Cedaredge, said he had just picked up the vehicle from the shop.

A Crawford area resident reported a neighbor's dogs had killed livestock and a pet rabbit.

A single vehicle accident erupted into shouting after a 38-year-old female backed a borrowed pickup into community mailboxes on Kenosha Road, Austin. The parties were sent their separate ways.

Aug. 23:

A man living on 1600 Road, Delta, said someone spent the night in his camper. He later learned a stranger had knocked on the door of his mother's home on B Road. It was speculated both incidents were tied to the search for Fred Houghton IV, but the sheriff's office says there is no evidence Houghton was involved in either circumstance.

Aug. 25:

A dispute over water in the Cedaredge area resulted in comments on Facebook and an investigation of harassment.

At about 4:30 p.m., a fire was reported on Moss Rock Road, Hotchkiss. Hotchkiss firefighters confined the blaze to one shed, which was totally destroyed. The property owner recently died, and another individual was helping clean up the property when the fire started. The cause is unknown. There did not appear to be anything of value in the shed.

Deputies responding to a possible sighting of Fred Houghton IV, the subject of a manhunt in Delta last Wednesday, arrested Jason Valentine for attempted burglary and theft of a house on Surface Creek Road, Cedaredge. According to the sheriff's office, there are physical similarities between the two men.

Aug. 26:

A gas skip was reported at the Cory General Store at about 4 p.m. A white Dodge pickup left without paying for $75 worth of fuel.

Three juveniles were involved in a rollover accident involving a John Deere Gator. A 13-year-old boy from Clifton was killed and a second boy was airlifted to Grand Junction. The third teen was not seriously injured. The accident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. near 3100 Road and Stoney Creek Road.

Aug. 27:

A man living on Cottonwood Drive, Hotchkiss, reported a storage shed had been broken into. Missing items included two archery bows.
