Frances Elaine LeGault died Dec. 24, 2017, at her home. She was 97.
She was born July 25, 1920, in Fort Morgan to Lee and Afia (Thompson) Hemenover. She grew up in eastern Colorado, mostly in Fort Morgan and Englewood. During World War II she worked for the National Association for Teen Youth, where she met her husband, Lawrence LeGault. They were married in Englewood Dec. 6, 1938.
They owned LeGault Trucking Company in Littleton. It was later known as LeGault Fertilizer Company. Mrs. LeGault handled business operations while Lawrence did heavy equipment driving and maintenance. They sold the trucking company in 1980 due to poor health.
In 1982 they moved to Delta, where they built a home and established a large yard. Mrs. LeGault enjoyed gardening, canning, baking fresh bread and traveling south during the winter. She sang and played several instruments. For 20 years, she made birthday cards for orphaned children in India and other countries. She taught Sunday school and kids' club for 35 years. Her faith was very important; she was involved in Mission of Mercy Ministry in Colorado Springs after the death of her husband.
She is survived by her daughter, Laurel "Laurie" (Herb) Helberg of Cedaredge; her sister, Carol (Hank) Danley of Colorado Springs; brother, Rolland Hemenover of Kingman, Ariz.; grandchildren, Michael (Brenda) Helberg, Dianne (Rocco) Volante, Lisa (Rick) Griffith, Jana Lynn (James) Kinnaman, Jill LeGault and Paige (Robert) Kochs; six great-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years; son, Robert LeGault; and brother, Donald Hemenover.
A memorial service will be held in May.
Delta Volunteer Fire Department (DVFD) will be holding its annual fireworks show at Confluence Park on Wednesday, July 4, having received approval from Delta City Council at the council's June 5 meeting.
The DVFD has 28 volunteers and expects to have eight to 10 firefighters from Cedaredge join them this year.
