The annual Cherry Days 5k run/walk happens Saturday, June 30. A Cherry Days tradition for well over a decade, the course begins and ends at Apple Valley Park. Registration is $35 for adults, $10 for ages 17 and under, with proceeds going to the Paonia High School cross country program.
The course will be familiar to last year's participants and is both fast and stroller friendly. Runners will head east out of Apple Valley Park, south on Rio Grande, west on Third St., north on Delta Ave., west on Fifth St., north on Oak, east on the Black Bridge Road to a designated turnaround, then follow a slight variation back to the Apple Valley Park. Directions will be provided on the morning of the race.
Awards will be presented in eight categories and all participants receive a pair of commemorative PHS cross country team running socks.
Registration forms are available at paoniacherrydays.com under the "Activities" tab, or at 6:30 a.m. on race day. If mailing registration forms, please mail no later than June 28 to ensure timely arrival.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
