There has been a steady flow of golfers of all ages at Cedaredge Golf Course in an otherwise stressful time for new golf professional Erik Hansen and his wife Tara. As many know, the community of Cedaredge has been under a water restriction recently and the local golf course was not spared from the parching heat and winds of a nasty drought.

Hansen admits the beginning of a week is usually a slow time for the course and the drought has affected the number of players, but the stream of daily golfers has remained somewhat steady.

Cedaredge offers a Men's Club on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays (open to all) and has had 18-24 players throughout the summer.

It also offers an 8:30 a.m. Birdies' Club for women only; beginners and intermediates may attend free clinics to begin the day prior to random pairings for scramble play. Newcomers are welcome.

A program for juniors has entertained between 14 and 30 players on Tuesdays from 3:30-5 p.m. Hansen notes he has the young players on the driving range for instruction for approximately 45 minutes and then takes the players out on the course for 45 minutes of actual playing time.

Another new program Hansen has promoted is a Family Night on weekend afternoons, which features a par three course on every hole on the back nine where everyone in the family (adults and kids) play for $20. Hansen called the special par three course the Green Lizard (which was designed by the Cedaredge Ladies Club).

A Couples Nine and Dine day is a growing program where couples play nine holes of golf and dine following play (including cart fees and dinner) for $29.

Other specials at Cedaredge include discounts for military personnel and a Drought Special where one can play 18 holes of golf with a cart for $30.
