Delta VFW post hosts district awards banquet

Lee Marts Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3571 of Delta hosted the VFW District 11 meeting and district awards banquet Sunday, Feb. 11. VFW and Auxiliary members representing nine posts and seven auxiliaries on the Western Slope honored the district winners of three contests sponsored by the VFW and Auxiliary.

Bruins win Region 1 mat title
Bruins win Region 1 mat title

Cedaredge head wrestling coach Cutter Garrison estimates that last weekend's regional team title ended a three decades long championship drought.

The Bruins placed 13 wrestlers and scored 226 points to win the Class 2A Region 1 title Saturday at Delta High School, outscoring 14 other teams, including Paonia and Hotchkiss.

Delta hoop teams lose in Cedaredge, split at RF

As the 2017-18 basketball campaign nears the end of regular season play, Delta High School's basketball teams are gearing up for strong finishes with hope of finishing high enough RPI ratings to advance to this year's 3A state basketball playoffs in early March.

Losses to Cedaredge by both teams mark the third loss to the Bruins for the girls and the second for the boys this season.

Dogs 3rd with three titles

Hotchkiss will send eight wrestlers to state this Thursday. In the Class 2A Region 1 tournament, the Bulldogs finished third with 178 points and placed 10 wrestlers.

Eagles qualify 10 wrestlers for 2018 state tournament

The Paonia Eagles placed 12 wrestlers and scored 203.5 points to finish second Saturday at the 2A Region 1 tournament.

Senior Clay Campbell was one of three Paonia wrestlers to go undefeated.

The ShadeScapes team installed 50 elegant, long-lasting umbrellas at 22 locations on the island, comprised of restaurants and schools that suffered devastating damage during Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
