Cedaredge's 4x200 relay team has the boys holding the edge in most races they run in. The team of Isaac Swoffer, Drew Markley, Brendon Klaseen and Ty Grant are unbeaten so far in the three meets they have competed in.
The Bruins of Cedaredge had a strong week with wins over 2A Hotchkiss and 3A Moffat County. A big second inning got Cedaredge off to a lead it would never relinquish in an 11-1 non conference victory. A weekend encounter against Moffat County was another win, 9-2, for the Bruins.
Competition at the middle school Rocky Mountain Nationals is achieved only after rigorous effort and committment. There are 21 weight classifications in the middle school competition, beginning at 70 pounds and progressing to the heavyweight division.
The Delta County Student Art Show is now on display at the AppleShed Gallery in Cedaredge. This year, the show was expanded to include art from district elementary and middle schools.
There was a festive air in the aerobics room at Bill Heddles Recreation Center in Delta a few weeks ago, the scene of the 49th anniversary dance for the Delta Hubwheelers Square Dance Club. Ladies were dressed in a colorful array of skirts, their turns on the dance floor setting the room aflame in swirls of blues, pinks, reds and purples.
The ball fields at the Delta County Fairgrounds received a facelift just in time for Hotchkiss Home Plate's spring practice season. Home Plate provides the North Fork area's youth opportunities to play more baseball and softball.
The issues facing the Hotchkiss Town Council may seem mundane, but Hotchkiss Mayor Wendell Koontz stressed the importance of hard work and common sense in keeping the Town of Hotchkiss running smoothly. His comments were addressed to the Hotchkiss High School students who were invited to participate in the council's regular meeting.
While government may see healthy lifestyles as an opportunity to raise taxes, Cedaredge Elementary sees them as a chance for fun, for learning, and for helping their school get better.
