At their March 5 meeting Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes made two appointments to the county planning commission. Steve Shea was reappointed for a three-year term.
Delta High School's swim team has a new coach and a home meet win to begin the 2016 portion of its schedule. The Panthers outscored Montrose 342-341 to claim a win at home. A team from Central/Palisade was the third team competing in swim competition last Saturday.

Last Saturday about 20 bird watchers and birding enthusiasts endured freezing temperatures around Hotchkiss during the 116th annual National Audubon Society Christmas Bird Count.
Jason Beason, special monitoring projects coordinator with the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies (formerly the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory), said this year's Hotchkiss bird count, sponsored by the Black Canyon Audubon Society, revealed more than 70 individual species.
